[firebug] Don't like the new integration

Well thanks generally for firebug i was always fine with it.. but with the
latest release the appereance changed to a firefox integration. I really
don't like the general look and feel and hardly believe it is a step
backward. Can you please make it possible to change it to the default
firebug layout? This might be some kind of "Never touch a running system".
First time that i was really unhappy with firebug.

As the Firebug homepage states <https://getfirebug.com/>, Firebug
development and maintainance is discontinued. You were obviously
automatically switched to the Firefox DevTools
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools> (using a Firebug theme).
There is more info about this at
https://hacks.mozilla.org/2016/12/firebug-lives-on-in-firefox-devtools/.
There's also a migration guide for Firebug users
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Migrating_from_Firebug> to
make the transition a bit easier.
If you don't like the look and feel, I suggest you have a look at bug 991806
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=991806> (listing all gaps
between Firebug and the DevTools) and bug 1263889
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1263889> (listing Firebug
theme improvements). And if you miss anything that is not mentioned there
yet, file a new bug and mark it as blocker of 991806 or 1263889.

I agree the new integration is complete shit and all the amazing things
firebug was, it 100% isn't.

Goodbye firebug and probably firefox as well. It was the main reason for
using that browser. Now I may as well go to chromium.

Thanks for the years of amazing work on firebug. I'm sad to see if drift
off into the ongoing piece of shit that Mozilla is continuing to make
Firefox.

I also didn't like the new update, it's like I lost the control over
firebug, many features missing, older one was absolutely fine.
Like I wrote earlier, the "new update" is *not* Firebug. What you are
seeing are the Firefox DevTools with a Firebug theme. See the related
Mozilla blog post
<https://hacks.mozilla.org/2016/12/firebug-lives-on-in-firefox-devtools/>
for more info.
I know that the DevTools still have many UI glitches, which make Firebug's
UI superior. Though those issues will be fixed with the time (hopefully
sooner than later). And that's why I'm pushing on getting the gaps fixed
<https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=991806#c14> and created the migration
guide
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Migrating_from_Firebug> in
the meantime.

Completely agree with other users. I've to install an older version of FF
to continue use of FB but is a temporary solution. Probably I also switch
to Chrome also for debug.
FB was only reason to use FF for me.

My week has been infinitely worse since this auto-update. Attempting the
Stackoverflow suggestion to get it back for now. Is this something that
could be re-written if it had crowd funding? I'll chip in $100, Firebug is
basically the only reason I still use Firefox as it's significantly better
than Chrome's Dev Tools for my development process.

The team behind Firebug has split up and with e10s implemented and
WebExtensions enforcement on the horizon, Firebug basically would need to
be recreated from scratch (if it's even possible to create it as
WebExtension). So, I think the $100 are better invested in pushing the
Firefox DevTools. While their UI is not as good as Firebug's and still has
several flaws, they are not as bad as you think. Just read the migration
guide
<https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Migrating_from_Firebug> and
give them a try.
But maybe there's someone out there that wants to take the challenge of
reviving the project and would initiate a crowd funding campain to get the
resources. It's open source, after all.

Damn it! sighs... sorry had to let it out...

First the command prompt was perfectly fine to have it on the right and to
be able to type a script in it and run to test it, instead of having a one
liner input that basically forces you to hit shift if you want a new
line... screw that.

The look and feel is horrible, ok maybe not so much, but I can't stand it
and neither the 10px size font for all text in it.

For the time being I will downgrade to a firefox version that I can
continue using firebug as it was...

For future implementations, ask the whole community of users about feedback
on mockups or design concepts first.

Several people were already complaining about the missing command editor.
As I mentioned in an answer to a question on Stack Overflow
<http://stackoverflow.com/a/42065616/432681>, there's a tool called
Scratchpad <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Scratchpad>,
which offers a multi-line command line, but has some UI glitches. A
multi-line command line like in Firebug is therefore requested in bug
1133849 <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1133849>.

If you have concrete suggestions to improve the UI, please file bugs
against the DevTools <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi>. And if
they are a regression to Firebug's UI, please mark them as blockers of bug

Because Firebug is discontinued, there won't be any future implementations
of Firebug anymore. And the Firefox DevTools are mostly maintained by
another team. So, you need to contact them about feedback and mockups.

Well, you are right...

The new FireFox developer tools are a real pain in the ass, compared to
good old FireBug. :(

So I will switch to Chrome for developmet.

Whose developer tools are 95%+ like good old FireBug.

Plus some goodies.
